Kristopher Sarno has been battling leukemia for 11 years. During that time, he lost his best friend, a pup named Breaker. This year, Kristopher decided it was time to get a new dog. Sadly, he learned the hard lesson that you should never try to buy a dog from the internet. He saved up all of his money to find a new fuzzbutt, only to lose it all in a scam.
The young man wired money to someone with whom he had only communicated via text message. Kristopher was heartbroken and angry. He immediately went to the local police department to file a fraud report. When Officer Angela Halcovich heard Kristopher’s story, she too was heartbroken on his behalf. She immediately sprang into action.
She found a puppy that needed Kristopher as much as Kristopher needed him. The little dog, named Nitro, was a stray that was on the list to be euthanized at a local shelter.
After falling prey to a puppy scam, Kristopher never imagined he’d find a new best friend. Thanks to Officer Halcovich, he did – and thanks to her, Nitro has found a forever home and the pair will have a bond that will last a lifetime.
Remember, if you are looking to add a furry family member to your home, look no further than your local shelter or rescue. There are plenty of pups there who would make an excellent addition to your family.
