We’ve all heard of the debate on Photoshop and photo editing – is it becoming excessive? Is it “lying” to your viewers? Post-processing has been viewed in the fashion world quite negatively, but it has added a touch of magic to this photographer’s conceptual pet photographs.

Meet Jessica Trinh, a 19-year-old dog lover and student from Orange County, California.

Impressed? We certainly were!

Jessica began photographing her first dog, Chuppy, at age 13. “My parents gave me my first Powershot camera and it was the bees knees!” she says. She began with basic portrait shots of Chuppy and had him pose on bridges, under tree, and in front of walls. “I guess you can say I was just pretending to play photographer,” she says.

But her stunning shots of Chuppy certainly reflected professional quality shots. “After a few years of practice, I started to test out editing and started to teach myself how to use Photoshop. I only knew the basics but it became very useful for me!”

Jessica now has three dogs – Kodi, Daisy, and Aiko. Kodi came to her from a hoarding situation a few weeks after Chuppy passed away. “We all realized not having a Golden wasn’t the way to live,” she says. Kodi is only 5 months old now but is a very calm puppy, and acts as a handsome little model for Jessica’s stunning photographs. “His favorite thing to do is go to the beach and play fetch – he’s actually a master at fetch for being so young!” Aiko and Daisy, Jessica’s two other pups, also tag along in her photo adventures.

For Jessica, taking photographs isn’t just taking photographs. “I hope to turn pet photography into an art form. I’ve noticed that pet photography has been very static lately, whether they’re just pet portraits or cute images. I thought it’d be nice to see some conceptual pet photography sprinkled in to the photography world.”

As a photographer with such inspirational photography, Jessica says she is inspired by everyday activities and being a part of the photography community. “It is so amazing how anything can inspire you to take action and create something beautiful.”
