Welcome to BarkBites! Each week we’ll show you how to whip up a quick, easy, and delicious treat for your pooch. What are you waiting for?! Let’s get cookin’!

This week we’re making quick and easy Sweet Potato Chips lightly fried in coconut oil and sprinkled with turmeric (the super spice!) and some ceylon cinnamon. Cinnamon is often incorrectly branded as toxic for dogs, as long as you use ceylon (not cassia) cinnamon — and definitely not nutmeg — a little sprinkle is an easy way to help with indigestion, arthritis, heart disease, respiratory issues, and a whole host of other ailments.

Whachu’ Need:

– 1 or 2 Large Sweet Potatoes
– Organic Coconut Oil
– Ceylon Cinnamon
– Turmeric
– Potato Peeler
– Mandoline or Sharp Knife

Whachu’ Gonna Do:

Cut the ends off your sweet potatoes and peel all of the skin off.

Using your mandoline or a sharp knife, cut your potatoes into chips of uniform width — the thinner the better! That makes sure they’re nice a crispy.

Alternate Cooking Method: You can also toss in oil and bake these chips for an even healthier version, we just like the CRUNCH that quickly frying in organic coconut oil gives them.

Heat your coconut oil to a steady 270° before adding any of your chips.

Let the chips crisp up for roughly thirty seconds before flipping them over. Once cooked through, remove chips from the oil and drain them on paper towels.

While they’re still a little warm, dust with turmeric and ceylon cinnamon. Allow to cool fully before giving to your dog to enjoy.
