Welcome to BarkBites! Each week we’ll show you how to whip up a quick, easy, and delicious treat for your pooch. What are you waiting for?! Let’s get cookin’!
This week we’re making Harvest Veggie Bacon Bowls, a hearty and satisfying meal that both you and your dog will enjoy! While we don’t recommend feeding this to your dog every day, it’s a tasty and special way to treat your pup.
This recipe ensures that your dog gets plenty of farm fresh vegetables, a healthy dose of the super spice turmeric (known for its anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant skills as well as a host of other nutritional benefits), and a little bit of crunchy, glorious, life-affirming BACON!
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Before you start salivating all over your keyboard, let’s get started.
– 1 Carrot (chopped)
– 1 Celery Stalk (chopped)
– 1/3 Red Bell Pepper (chopped)
– 1/2 Cup Broccoli Florets (cooked)
– 1/2 Cup Long-Grain Brown Rice (cooked)
– 2 Strips Lean, Beef Bacon
– 2 Teaspoons Turmeric
– 1-2 Tablespoons Parmiggiano-Reggiano Cheese
Once you have your veggies cut down to size, you’re going to marry all of these individually awesome ingredients into one insanely tasty dish.
Start by cutting your bacon strips in half and frying in a nonstick skillet, flipping once halfway through. Drain well on paper towels. Next, add your chopped vegetables to the hot skillet and cook through before adding in the brown rice, cooked broccoli, and turmeric.
Crumble your bacon and sprinkle a portion over your dog’s dish. If your dog handles dairy okay, add a little freshly grated Parmiggiano-Reggiano cheese as well! (Makes 2 Servings)
