Imagine a place where upbeat live tunes bebop in the open air, the sun cheerfully shines on the brink of summer, the beer tastes crisper than a freshly-minted $100 bill, and thousands of happy dogs explore a pier full of activities designed just for them.
Sound like Heaven? It is! And it’s real. This May, Bark & Co. is throwing our biggest dog festival EVER on pier 97 here in New York City. BarkFest 2016 brings the World’s Fair experience to dogs and their groupies. Come explore interactive games, cool tech demos, live music, delish bites, cold brews, and more! (Can’t make it to NYC? We’re doing a multi-city BarkFest series next year in 2017!)
I’ve been working at Bark & Co. for almost four years now and in that time we’ve thrown some crazy events that I’ll remember until I’m an old lady telling my grandpups about the coolest job I ever had. Puppy Prom, the Kentucky Derpy, our Pup Up shop… If I expressed emotion in the way that my dog does I’d be wiggling my butt into oblivion and drooling right now at the memories. This will be my third BarkFest and I can definitively say this will be the greatest event we’ve ever done.
In 2014 we took over Madison Square Park and made a film festival for pups and their people…
In 2015 we took over a giant pier in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and over 9000 people brought their four legged loves…
And this year we’re going to make it even bigger. It’s really going to be like Coachella… Except if you replace half of young Hollywood with dogs. (Much more pleasant, tbh.)
What to expect:
The Main Stage
Catch a pawerhouse of performers and events on The Main Stage. We’ll have a DJ spinning tunes, a sashay-able dogwalk for you and your pup to strut down, and live musical performances by Great Caesar and Tanlines!
Arts & Laughs
Meet the world’s biggest Instagram celebridogs like Tuna and Marnie at our Culture Pawvillion.
Then, sit for a caricature that’ll make your pup the star. Awaken your snout at the Sniff Around the World exhibit before finally resting your barking dogs at the Pawp Art lounge.
Shape Pup
Play golf with your dog on our custom-built Pup Putt course! Using tennis balls as golf balls, you’ll turn every putt into a game of fetch.
Then, enjoy the jumbo-sized Ball Pit and put your pup to the test on the Agility Course.
Bites & Brews
Taste the best of food truck cuisine right at Hudson River Park’s Pier 97. We’ll bring the yum to you! Wash down your gourmet grub at the beer garden (but you must be 21 human years or older to enjoy).
The Pup Up Shop
Find limited-edition and specially themed Bark & Co. goodies at the Pup Up Shop. You can browse and buy top-rated products from past BarkBoxes and small, local vendors.
Adoptable Dogs
(Of course!)Hang with hounds from local rescues and shelters across NYC. Mix, mingle, snuggle and maybe you’ll meet your new best friend!
