Are you itching to take your favorite pooch to a pet-friendly beach spot this weekend? Your four-legged friend will have a blast frolicking in the surf and digging in the sand at any one of these dog-friendly beaches.

1. Huntington Beach, California

Huntington Dog Beach is over 1 mile of puppy paradise! Your dog can run leash-free on the expansive sandy beach. Dog Beach is the perfect place to spend an afternoon with your pooch.

2. Fort DeSoto Beach, Florida

Bring your dog to Paw Playground! In this area of the beach, dogs are allowed to run…leash-free! Drinking water is available to stay hydrated and dog showers are available for rinsing off after a fun day of playing.

3. Ocean City, Maryland

Assateague National Seashore is a popular spot for pet lovers! Dogs are allowed on the Maryland portion of the beach so suit your dog up in her barkini for a day of fun in the sun!

4. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Most beaches along the coast in the Myrtle Beach area allow dogs on the beach before 9am and after 5pm. Barc Park is a dog park that is open from sunrise to sunset and offers a lake for dogs to play in. This is a great option if you’re looking for some lake action!

5. Tampa, Florida

Davis Island Dog Beach offers a 200 ft. fenced-in strip of beach, complete with a water fountain, spray-off station, benches and picnic tables! If your dog isn’t into the waves, visit the fenced-in dog park just next to the waterfront!

6. The Hamptons, New York

If you’re looking for a fun weekend away on Eastern Long Island, the Hamptons is the pet-friendly spot for you! Most beaches allow dogs on the beach before 9 or 10am and after 6pm. The South Fork of Long Island loves dogs and pet-friendly accommodations and shopping are plentiful!

7. Key West, Florida

Key West Dog Beach is a fur fan favorite! Get some exercise on the beach and then head over to one of Key West’s pet-friendly spots for a bite to eat and some refreshments!

8. Del Mar, California

North Beach is a recreational oasis loved by dogs and humans alike! For most of the year, dogs are allowed to run (leash-free!) across the two mile stretch of beach!

9. Coronado, California

Coronado’s Dog Beach is leash-free year round and the beach is open 24 hours. It’s the perfect place to set up some towels and spend a blissful afternoon (or evening)!

10. Chesapeake Bay, Virginia

First Landing State Park, an ocean-like beach, is at the mouth of the Chesapeake. Take in views of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, soak up the sun and make a weekend of it by camping in the park’s campgrounds or cabins!

11. Lake Michigan, Michigan

Dogs are allowed off-leash at the dog beach at Norman F. Kruse Park. Enjoy the sand dunes and some picnicking in one of several picnic shelters!

12. Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey

Malibu Beach AKA Longport Dog Beach is an off-leash dog park in a wildlife conservation area that’s open year-round! Go for a run, splash in the waves and treat Fido to a game of fetch on the beach.

Double Bluff Dog Beach runs along the base of Double Bluff and features 2 miles of off-leash beach fun! You might even spot a bald eagle or whale as both make occasional appearances!
