Kalu was in unimaginably bad shape when rescuers found him. He was lying in a hole in a construction site in India.
Nearly all of his face was gone. His skull was exposed. Both eyes appeared to be missing. Maggots had settled in his wounds.
Animal Aid Unlimited spokesperson Claire Abrams-Myers told BarkPost that the injuries were among the “worst wounds we have seen in over 10 years of rescuing animals.”
Animal Aid Unlimited‘s street dog rescue team surmised that Kalu had hidden himself away, waiting to die.
But that’s not what happened, as you can see in the video documenting Kalu’s astonishing recovery.
This video is extremely graphic:
Kalu’s Abrams-Myers said:
[His] incredible spirit and strength to recover is testament to just how much we can all do to help animals when we give them our love and care.
