At the end of May, several people spotted a stray dog on the side of the road in Denham Springs, LA. They couldn’t tell much about the pup’s condition, other than that she had a plastic jar stuck on her face.
It was clear this pup needed immediate help. It took days and dozens of volunteers to catch this fearful dog.
Once rescued, veterinarians at a local Banfield Pet Hospital discovered that the stray’s condition was far worse than expected. She was covered in ticks, fire ants and maggots. As for the jar on her face, the vets think the starving pup smelled whatever mayonnaise was left in the jar and tried to get some much needed nourishment from it.
The good news is that this sweet year and a half old Cattle Dog Mix, now named Maggie, is recovering at Azalea Lakes Veterinary Clinic. Once she is well, she will be put up for adoption. To donate to her care, visit her YouCaring page.
