**Update: April 8, 2016**
In December of 2015 we shared what little was known about a Poodle Mix named Felipe found wandering the streets of Quito, Ecuador. His coat was painfully matted and he was suffering with infections in his eyes so severe that vets originally thought he may need surgery to repair the damage. The dedicated folks at Stray from the Heart sponsored his care and have since brought him over to the U.S. where he was adopted by a loving family!

On April 5 Felipe’s family shared an update to the Stray from the Heart Facebook page showing the content pup snuggling on the couch with his three mini humans. Note his gorgeous curly hair coat and bright, healthy eyes! Turns out all Felipe needed was some medicated eye drops and lots of love and support.

Felipe, the handsome Poodle mix on the Stray From the Heart Facebook page is unrecognizable from the pitiful pooch he was only a week before. He is estimated to be about two years old, but his eyes project a soul much older and wiser. Felipe began life as a street dog in Quito, Ecuador until he was rescued by volunteers at Camino a Casa, an Ecuadorian rescue affiliate of Stray From the Heart. Before this stroke of luck, he likely experienced fear, pain and hunger that most of us could not imagine.

Felipe has been thoroughly groomed and is finally able to see without the obstruction of matted hair. Now this handsome little fella needs our help. His vet is optimistic that Felipe will make a full recovery, but he may require eye surgery to repair some of the damage caused by lack of care.
