Eugene Bostick is an 80-year-old from Fort Worth, Texas, who, together with his brother Corky, is setting a wonderful example for humans everywhere.

According to NBCDFW, the Bosticks have been helping animals for about 30 years.

In an interview with The Dodo, Eugene Bostick shared his amazing journey:

We live down on a dead-end street, where me and my brother have a horse barn. People sometimes come by and dump dogs out here, leaving them to starve. So, we started feeding them, letting them in, taking them to the vet to get them spayed and neutered. We made a place for them to live.

Over the years, the pair have cared for and tended to countless animals, and have taken in numerous dogs abandoned by their owners and left to starve.

The Bosticks’ farm serves as the pups’ vast, expansive home where they get to frolic and enjoy their freedom to their hearts’ content. Eugene, however, wanted to do something more for his large furry family, and that’s how the train idea was born.

“One day I was out and I seen this guy with a tractor who attached these carts to pull rocks. I thought, ‘Dang, that would do for a dog train,'” Eugene told The Dodo. “I’m a pretty good welder, so I took these plastic barrels with holes cut in them, and put wheels under them and tied them together.”

Today, Eugene takes his dogs on a train ride around Fort Worth a couple of times a week, and they’re basically the talk of the town!

This is the coolest guy he rescues stray dogs and every morning he takes them for a train ride by our building, i finally got the courage up to ask if I could take his pic! Love this and had to share!

The sudden attention doesn’t seem to have fazed Eugene. He shares that all that matters is “bringing a bit of joy to a handful of dogs who had been through so much before finding themselves as his cheerful passengers.”
