Author, business owner, comedian, and television host, Justin Silver, has had a lot of notable job titles. He wrote The Language of Dogs
, owns a dog-care business by the same name, was the host of CBS’s Dogs in the City
, and is among the favorite stand-ups in the New York comedy scene.
Silver’s crowning achievement, however, may have been in 2007, when he decided to combine his passions and founded ‘Funny for Fido,’ a stand-up comedy benefit raising money for homeless dogs. Past performers include, Amy Schumer, Dave Atell, Colin Quinn, Patrice O’Neal, Jim Gaffigan and many more.
In eight years, Silver has raised tens of thousands of dollars doing what he does best and helping those he loves most. "Dogs have helped me when I needed it most," Silver tells BarkPost, "I wanted to do something to help them. Dogs kind of saved me."
Everyone knows that laughter is the best medicine, and after adopting his mutts, Chiquita and Pacino, Silver also knows that a little pup
scription doesn't hurt either.
This year, Silver will be hosting along with Luis J. Gomez. The performing comedians, Chris Distefano, Greer Barnes, Godfrey, and Ryan Hamilton are sure to have audience members rolling (over) in the aisles. Special guests and adoptable dogs will also be dropping in to
tickle your funny bone.
Funny for Fido is this Monday, November 16th at Carolines on Broadway. Doors open at 6 pm, the show starts at 7pm. 100% of proceeds go to dogs in need, so buy your tickets here.
