Kickstarter Will Become A Dog Website If One Jilted Dog Lover Has His Way

One of the very first things we do when we bring a dog into our lives is pick out a name (unless the dog already has one and responds to it, which makes your life easier unless it’s your ex’s name and then it’s like, super awkward, I guess).

And it’s a huge responsibility. You’ll be saying this name for years, and people at the dog park and the vet’s office will JUDGE you for it (along with every other choice you make like whether you get your dog winter boots or whether you share your dinner with your dog and lots of other things that are personal choices, MOM, gosh!).

One guy is trying to raise money via Kickstarter to help dog owners everywhere with this most crucial of decisions.

The crowdfunding website is best known for being a place where people pitch ideas for projects that folks can essentially invest in, with a reward system based on how much money one throws into the pool. For example, if you donate $1 to Schlechter’s endeavor, he will name your dog Donald. Personally, I would go with $3, since it gives me freedom of choice:

You may laugh, but Kickstarter wasn’t having any of it. When they found out about Schlechter’s project, they informed him that he was violating one of their guidelines, which requires that “projects must create something to share with others.”

This is how Schlechter responded:

So, there’s that. Maybe someone should mention to Schlechter that dog naming websites are already a thing.
