From saving homeless dogs from being euthanized, to raising absurd amounts of money, get ready to swoon as we count down the top celeb dog dads changing the lives of pups everywhere. Which celebrity will lead the pack?
11. Hugh Jackman
Pup’s Name: Dali, a French Bulldog.
Why We Love Him: As anyone who follows Hugh on Instagram knows, Hugh is rarely without his beloved Frenchie, Dali. He also uses those viral insta images to raise awareness about various pup related organizations. High paws Hugh, high paws.
10. Zac Efron
Pup’s Name: Puppy, a Australian Shepherd.
Why We Love Him: Despite the lack of creativity in his dog’s name (maybe it’s ironically simple), Zac is a big animal welfare supporter and works to raise money for rescue organizations. We’re okay with the fact that he did that Nicholas Sparks movie now.
Pup’s Name: Sidi, a Saluki mix.
Why We Love Him: Orlando rescued Sidi while filming Kingdom of Heaven and if that’s not enough to melt your heart he also supports various dog rescue causes. I guess we can forgive him for Pirates of The Caribbean Three, but no promises.
Pup’s Name: Baxter, a Golden Retriever.
Why We Love Him: A strong supporter of animal rescue causes, Ryan adopted his Golden Retriever Baxter while at a shelter looking for a dog for a friend. This proves once and for all that celebs are just as easily swayed by puppy eyes as normal people.
7. Jon Hamm
Pup’s Name: Cora, a mutt.
Why We Love Him: The Mad Men star works to advocate for shelter dogs and is a sponsor of the Much Love Animal Rescue shelter in Los Angeles.
Pup’s Name: Billy a Pit Bull/ Lab mix, and Boxers Buckley & Brennan.
Why We Love Him: Not only did he rescue all of his pups, but the Grammy Award winner also takes time out of his schedule to help find homes for shelter dogs. In fact, he even put up a sign in front of his house to try and find a dog a home. Such dedication.
5. Ryan Gosling
Pup’s Name: George, a mutt.
Why We Love Him: Ryan has become an outspoken advocate against puppy mills, He and George lent their adorable mugs to be featured in an anti-puppy mill ad campaign. He also spends time raising awareness about adopting from shelters. I still can’t decide which is cuter…
Pup’s Name: Driver, a Pit Bull.
Why We Love Him: Driver the Pit Bull was about to be euthanized when Josh stepped in and rescued the pup. Since then, Josh has become a major Pit Bull advocate and uses his powers of celeb to help pitties everywhere.
3. Josh Duhamel
Pup’s Name: Zoe, a Dachshund.
Why We Love Him: The dog cause champion does a lot for homeless pups. He recently teamed up with Kristen Bell to raise funds for a shelter support organization that tried to prevent dogs from being euthanized. (So basically, a way better funding cause than that Veronica Mars movie…)
2. Kellan Lutz
Pup’s Name: Kevin, a Chihuahua and Kola, a mutt.
Why We Love Him: The super-hunk is a HUGE PETA supporter, homeless animal advocate, and recently raised $200,000 for a shelter in Bulgaria after filming Hercules in the country last year.
Pup’s Name: Nietzsche, a Pit Bull mix.
Why We Love Him: Number one on our list, Ian goes above and beyond for dogs all over the world. He not only adopted his own pup, he then helped deliver her puppies when he discovered she was pregnant! Somerhalder also has his own foundation dedicated to supporting animal welfare and helping homeless dogs.
