The Live Like Roo Foundation was named after Roo – AKA Roosevelt – a calm, gentle Pit Bull rescued from a Chicago shelter at five years of age. After it was determined that he had terminal cancer, Kelly Michael and Sarah Lauch, his rescuers, made certain that his last remaining days were filled with happiness and love. For months, he experienced all the incredible things he’d never experienced before (like the wonders of eating an ice cream cone) and encouraged everyone to “Live Like Roo.”
Roo’s eventual passing inspired Lauch to found The Live Like Roo Foundation, which provides both financial and emotional assistance to families’ whose beloved dogs have been diagnosed with cancer. If you’d like to help, go to their website to donate – items for their famous care packages and monetary donations are both greatly appreciated.
