“She’s a part of the family,” Dallas homeowner Melanie Dean said about her Boxer, Lola. “Everybody else has a room — so does she.” We’ve been treating our dogs like family for centuries, and homebuilders are finally starting to take notice.

Companies like Morning Star Builders have offered clients pet-friendly options before, but California-based Standard Pacific Homes is making dreams come true for dog lovers with padded wallets and pups with a taste for the finer treats in life.

For some floor plans, owners can add a pet suite that houses “a tiled washing station with leash tie-downs and a hand-held sprayer, a pet dryer, a cabinet with built-in bedding, a stackable washer/dryer combo (separate from the human laundry room), a flat-screen TV and a patio door that opens to a dog run.” Be still, my dog-ruvin’ heart!

Starting at $8K and going up to $35K, dog owners have the option of completely customizing their pet suite according to the size of the dog and what amenities the homeowner would like to incorporate. Even if you don’t have the bones to drop on these sweet suites, these ideas serve as great inspiration for your home improvement pawjects.

“It comes back to enhancing the lives of our homeowners who are pet owners,” said a spokesperson for Standard Pacific. It’s not hard to see why Standard Pacific would jump on the pup pampering wagon, especially considering that Americans spent a record breaking $56 billion on their pets in 2013, with a reported estimate of $60 billion this year.

And, let’s be real: every staircase should have a cubby for your dog to live out his Harry Potter fantasies, right?
