Heroic Pit Bull Rescues His Owner From Fiery Blaze

In the early morning hours of the day after Christmas, a massive fire broke out in a condominium north of Lexington, Kentucky.

It took about 50 firefighters to control the blaze.

While all residents of the complex miraculously escaped, at least one family owes their lives to their heroic Pit Bull, Chewy. Chewy’s human, Ava Strack, says her Pit is normally a quiet dog.

But at around 4:30am that morning, he started barking and would not stop — even after Ava got up, looked around, and didn’t see anything suspicious. His nonstop barking signaled to Ava that something was wrong. And indeed there was, as the entire building soon became engulfed in flames.

According to reports, the entire basement of the complex caught fire.

Although the entire building was destroyed, the disaster could have been far more tragic, if not for Chewy. As Ava says, “If it wasn’t for him, we wouldn’t be here.”

This is what a hero looks like.

And there it is – yet another reason to love Pit Bulls (not that you needed another one).
