Pit Bull Abused & Set On Fire Refused To Accept Defeat, Now He’s A PTSD Service Dog

When Army Corporal Derek Butler returned from Iraq with PTSD, trainers showed him a series of possible service dogs to provide some much-needed comfort. Last but definitely not least was Pheonix the Pit Bull, whose scars revealed a tragic past.

Pheonix was tied to a tree, soaked with kerosine, and set on fire as a puppy, but somehow he survived and wants nothing more than human companionship. In fact, the first thing he asked of Butler was to give him a belly rub. This dog has an amazing ability to forgive, and it seems that the two have certainly saved each others’ lives.
