Over a month ago, Nick Haworth thought he lost his best friend when she went overboard on his boat – in the Pacific Ocean. The best friend? A German Shepherd named Luna.

After searching to no avail, Nick assumed the worst and mourned the loss of his pup.

RIP Luna, you will be greatly missed

But Nick received the best news of his life this week when someone spotted Luna on a road on San Clemente Island. The island is 70 miles off of the San Diego coast and is home to a Navy-owned training base. The intrepid pup used her survival skills to swim to the island, which was roughly two miles from where she went overboard. People believe she survived by eating mice.

She and Nick will be reunited soon. We hope there’s a reunion video, because we can’t wait to see this pup wag her tail when she sees her human for the first time in over a month!
