We know we know, it’s Father’s Day not Children’s Day! But let’s face it, you can’t have one without the other, so let’s take a look at just how moms and dads become moms and dads!
The average gestational cycle of a puppy from conception to birth is 9 weeks.
First, the romance…

We’re all adults here right? So we know about the birds and the bees? Cool. Moving on.
Week One

After the egg has been fertilized, the soon-to-be mother may experience mood swings as hormones fluctuate within her body, and she may even become more affectionate.
Week Two

The fertilized egg then travels into the uterus where it will be implanted for the duration of development.
Week Three

Internally, the embryo begins to develop. Externally, her mammaries begin to swell and her appetite begins to change.
Week Four

This period sees the development of the spinal cord and facial features!
Week Five

Now the limbs develop from stubby nubs to actual legs!
Week Six

In this period, the puppy’s skin begins to retain pigment and eyelids grow (but they can’t open them yet!).
Week Seven

Now the puppies have grown so big you could feel them kick!
Week Eight

FUR!!!
Week Nine

Now ready for birth, the pups may stay very still in the womb to rest up for the main event.
Congratulations!

And that’s the miracle of life, folks. Happy Mother’s Day!!!
