Now this is our kind of sports story.
It all started when Katie Castan was at a Kansas City Royals baseball game with her boyfriend (and Royals fan) Joe Onofrio, and the TBS cam caught a shot of her with this sign:

The picture immediately went viral on Twitter, getting tweeted by various fans and major sports outlets.
Well, her boyfriend finally made good on his promise, and the two have adopted Castan’s favorite kind of dog: a Corgi!

Though the two initially planned on visiting the KC Pet Project, Kansas City’s municipal animal shelter, they were contacted by a family that was trying to find a new home for Corgi. And so, the couple adopted the 4-year-old Welsh Pembroke Corgi and named her Lucy.

What started as a bargain when the two were watching TV has now turned into a lovely reality. As Castan told The Kansas City Star, “I immediately fell in love. She’s so sweet–everything we could have hoped for!”
We wish all the best to this newly adopted pooch and her pup parents!
