Boris, a Saint Bernard, was horribly neglected and forced to compete with other dogs for food for nine years while trying to survive. Luckily, Eileen Mellis and Kerri Eilertsen-Feeney of Cinque Ports Rescue in Meryl Gardens, Deal decided to take this big guy in and get him the help he needed. After making it through two surgeries to amputate his damaged ears, this cutie was sent to live with Louise Herrick and her family in Culcheth, Warrington.

Boris

Mrs. Herrick told Kent Online:

The kids wanted a ‘Beethoven’ dog and I’d said they could so I went online looking for one. I was going to get a puppy but then up came Boris and I couldn’t believe it. I read his story and just thought this is the dog for us.

Boris

Mrs. Mellis told Kent Online:

Louise kept in touch throughout his recovery, offered him a home and after vetting and a home check we invited her down to meet him. It was love at first sight!

Boris

Herrick is a foster mom and a mother of four children, but that full house didn’t stop her from taking on this colossal guy. Once she brought Boris home she described him as, “delicious, and that he [fit] into the family perfectly.” You would think given his size this guy would be quite a handful, but Herrick says, “He is placid.”

Boris

They take this big guy out on trips everywhere so he is never alone, and Boris has even become something of a celebrity in the local village. At home, he demands to be with the family and will wiggle himself onto the couch whenever possible. Welcome to the life you deserve, big guy!
