When Justin Lansford was planning his wedding, he knew there was only one “person” he wanted by his side… besides his wife-to-be Carol Balmes. He wanted his service dog Gabe to be his best man.
Justin lost his left leg to an IED in Afghanistan in 2012. After the hero returned home, Warrior Canine Connection paired him with Gabe, a Golden Retriever.
Gabe helps Justin with his post-traumatic stress disorder. The pup has been an invaluable part of Justin’s life and Justin knew his wedding wouldn’t be the same without Gabe as his best man… er… dog.
Gabe even helped Justin propose to Carol last year on Veteran’s Day!
