Chris, also known as Instagrammer imso, lost his pup Everything after she became very sick. In honor of her memory two years later, he’s purchased 100 tennis balls to share with anyone who wants one.
“I hope that all the people who get a ball from me will use it to spend some quality time with their best friend,” he shared in a recent post. Chris had the Rottie–Boxer mix for 12 years, and during that time they did so many wonderful things together.
Chris tells Mashable:
Our main hobby together was walking on the beaches between Santa Cruz and Half Moon Bay. She slept in the bed with me in spite of my ex-girlfriend’s wishes that she didn’t.
The post announcing the tennis ball tribute has received over 8,000 likes, and those who emailed or messaged a request to receive one are through the roof. Chris says he is “blown away” by the response, and vows to go out and buy some more.
Some might wonder why he insists on this grand gesture, but those who have felt the love and loss of a dog won’t find it hard to grasp. He says:
I wanted to share her memory but in a positive way—to encourage other people to bond with their dogs. This was the best way I could think to do that. No matter what day, in my head there is always the equation, of how many days I have been without her.
Over the years Chris has posted an occasional photo of Everything to his Instagram just as a reminder of how much she changed his life. You don’t need a tennis ball to pass along the love this man has for his dog—just grab a toy and go outside, or give your pup a big ol’ hug.
