When my dog Lady first came home with me, I had lots of questions.

Finding random teeth tucked away in the folds of her bed, I (as a first-time pup owner) frantically Googled, “Why are my dog’s teeth falling out?” And on those rare occasions when I’d wake up more excited for our morning walk than her, I’d wonder, “Is my dog depressed?”

One time she had red gunk all in her mouth and I, in all my new-parent-paranoia, was frantically convinced it was some unknown (yet fatal) canine disease that she may or may not have caught from a cat. However, after some frantic googling and a closer investigation of her mouth (and my garden), I realized what it was: berries. Two mysteries were solved that night: Why my strawberry plants weren’t producing and why my dog’s teeth were coated in a lovely shade of scarlet.

That night I felt like an incompetent fool of a dog owner, but thinking back on it now I realize it’s natural for us dog lovers to be super a little paranoid when it comes to our little squinkies (yes, I realize my dog is about 60 pounds too heavy to be considered little, but she’ll always be my little squinky). Which is why it’s great that Vet On Demand has come up with an app that’ll help me give my pup the best care possible.

vet on demand

Vet On Demand is a service that’s like having a vet on call. You can video chat with a veterinarian who will ease your fears if you’ve got a case of Pup Parent Paranoia (don’t look it up, I may have just made that up, but IT’S A THING). For one-off, non-subscribers a 10-minute video consultation is $25, but for those who subscribe, 2 calls a month comes in at $14.95 and 5 calls at $29.92 -it’s definitely affordable. The best part is you can do it from your phone 24/7, so it’s a quick and affordable way to get advice and recommendations from just about anywhere.

Not only that, but the app allows vets to keep individual pet profiles, record call history and call notes. You can rate your experience, as well as share with friends. Additionally, you can ‘save’ your favorite vets and see if they’re online to access them directly and schedule calls. Looking to get your vet on the platform? You can also invite your vet from inside the app to join the system so you can call them directly as well.

It’s available as a free download right now on both Androids and iPhones through the App Store. And, as a super special offer for BarkPost readers only, enter code BARKPOST for a free 1 month subscription.

To find out more, check out their website, or follow them on Facebook and Twitter. Additionally, if you know a vet who’d love to be a part of the network, send them here to sign up!
