Let’s face it–our lovable fluff-balls can be expensive. Creating a budget for your dog helps establish your priorities as a pet parent, as well as allows for some guilt free shopping when you have the extra cash. Planning ahead financially can also drastically decrease the amount of stress you might feel when it comes to doggie related expenses. So what are you waiting for? Let’s get started!

Big Dogs:

We budgeted for a large dog (50+ lbs) to cost a little less than $2000 annually, with the largest monthly expense being food or grooming, and the largest yearly expense being their annual exam.

Medium Dogs:

The budget for a medium dog (between 35 and 50 lbs) is around the same as that of a large dog, rounding in at $1800. For smaller dogs, there are some savings when it comes to food, as well as flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.

Small Dogs:

Small dogs (35 lbs or less) are about $500 cheaper than a large dog, and round in at abut $1500 annually. The largest monthly expense for a small dog is grooming, while the largest yearly expense is their annual exam.
