The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has been speaking up for creatures without a voice for 150 years now. The work they do protects animals great and small from abusive and barbaric situations perpetrated by the world’s most vicious predators – humans.
Major animal-loving celebrities like Martha Stewart, Nathan Lane, 50 Cent, Ke$ha, and Julie Bowen came together to lend their famous faces and voices to this moving tribute video. They provided the thought provoking voice overs for the dogs, cats, horses and chickens featured in the video, as well as introduced the ASPCA’s 150 Days of Rescue campaign.
The goal is to inspire Americans to take 15 minutes out of their lives to do something to help animals in need – volunteer at a local shelter, send a donation to a favorite animal-related charity, become a foster pawrent, or adopt a new best friend. Together, we can help the ASPCA achieve their aspiration of 150,000 actions to benefit animals in just 150 days.
The campaign begins on April 10, and the ASPCA website has devoted a detailed page to the events, news, and initiatives associated with 150 Days of Rescue. One event, called Adoptapalooza – a massive adoption event – takes place in Union Square in New York City on Sunday, April 10th. Check it out to see how you can get involved.
As part of the 150 Days of Rescue, the ASPCA is taking nominations for shelters in need of financial support. The winning facility will receive a $150,000 grant, so be sure to nominate your favorite shelter!
