On October 26th, 85-year-old Texas man J.R. Nicholson started feeling dizzy and called for an ambulance. On the way to the hospital, another driver flagged the ambulance down with some unexpected information: There was a dog hitching a ride on the back of the ambulance!
Not wanting to leave his owner, Buddy, Nicholson’s Beagle mix, had decided to jump on the back of the vehicle so he could accompany his owner to the hospital. Buddy is a rescue dog who was adopted only four months ago from a local shelter.

“It was a crazy ordeal,” EMT Tanner Brown told the San Angelo Standard Times. The EMTs had no choice but to bring the pup in to the ambulance so he could join his owner for the rest of the trip.
Nicholson told the Standard Times that he was impressed by Buddy’s actions, stating, “He didn’t have to go to the hospital with me, but he did.”
Fortunately both Buddy and Nicholson headed home later that day safe and sound, with their bond now stronger than ever.
