Dogs have long-since been a crucial asset to both the military and police forces as guard dogs, sniffing out drugs or explosives, and for search and rescue operations. But a new technology, the Cerberus Digital Canine Transmitter, named after the multi-headed hellhound that guards the underworld in Greek mythology (which I TOTALLY would have guessed), could be changing the game.
This HD camera comes with microphones, infrared and lights, which could be invaluable to soldiers. It has the ability to be operated as far as 1,600 feet away and can transmit the video using a secure encrypted link, making it safe for the military or Special Forces to use.
Cobham Tactical Communications and Surveillance, the company that developed the technology, reveals that this could dramatically change the roles that dogs play in the military and police forces.
The camera has a low profile, which allows the dog to fit into tight places or prevent getting caught on anything. It can be popped up or down with the touch of a button, allowing the user to see what the dog is seeing.
If only it was as easy for hoomans to spy on our enemies…
