North Korea Uses ‘Birthday Dog’ Meme As Hilarious Example Of American Indulgence

Riley, the Bichon Frise/ Poodle mix who rocketed to Internet fame back in 2010, can now add ‘North Korean propaganda icon’ to his list of accolades.

Conwagulations Riley!

The image, which depicts a very satisfied and stoned looking Riley celebrating his first birthday, was used on the North Korean television show, Today’s World, as a hilarious example of American extravagance.

The program also used a picture of Giant George, former tallest dog in the world, to showcase our lavish American lifestyle. At first I thought this was canine-sizeism, then I remembered North Korea has about as much Internet access as a broken typewriter.

“I’m not excessive, I’m just big-boned.”

When asked how he feels about being the face of American ostentatiousness, Riley responded:
