He might not be able to play the piano, but he still rocks.

Jen Milner and her partner Brian first met Stevie when bringing two of their foster dogs to an adoption event. After falling for his inspiring personality, they knew they could never part ways with him. So they brought him home.

They don’t call him Stevie the Wonder Dog just because he’s wonderful, or because he’s blind. Like his namesake, Stevie loves to sway his head back and forth to the sounds of the world around him. But Stevie’s greatest quality? Showing the hoomans around him that misfortunes don’t have to break your spirit. In fact, you can flourish.

“When he was about a year old, we met a man at a local festival who had some sort of tremor,” his hooman Jen told BarkPost. “It was noticeable, and you could see people respond to it. He said hi to Stevie, and Stevie didn’t mind at all.” From there, it was a short step away from Stevie becoming one pawesome therapy dog.

After passing the American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen test, Stevie began visiting the Volunteers of America Detox Center, and helping the patients there with their detox and recovery.

“On one visit,” Jen recalled, “I had a client ask if Stevie had ever met a bad person and how he reacted. I wasn’t sure how to respond because he always loves meeting people. Luckily, another client piped up and said, ‘Stevie sees the good in everyone.’ And it’s so true! Everyone deserves that, and Stevie reminds me of that time and again.”

Stevie, we here at the BarkPost ruv your work and your indomitable spirit! You truly are one heckuva wonder dog.
