The White House Made Their Dogs Into Robots, But It’s Not What You Think

Each year, the White House hosts a holiday tour with a variety of unique and festive displays. The highlight of this year’s tour is robot versions of Bo and Sunny, the nation’s First Dogs and the Obama family’s treasured pets.

As part of its' higher tech holiday display this year, the White House will feature robotic versions of the family dogs in Washington, DC.

Bo was acquired during the President’s first term, and Sunny joined the Obama family during the second term. Now they’re the big attraction in the 2014 holiday display (as far as we’re concerned 🙂 ).

Previous White House holiday tours have included the official White House Christmas tree and a gingerbread version of the White House. That sounds neat, but we’ll take robot dogs. Way cooler.

The White House unsuccessfully tried to include robot versions of Bo and Sunny in earlier holiday tours. “We had a ‘smoking-tail Bo’ last year,” said one designer, recalling the mechanical difficulties that kept them out of the tour.

Robot Bo and Robot Sunny aren’t quite finished yet, but we can’t wait to see the results. Better luck this year, White House! And more dogs, please. Even if they are robots.
