If you come to NYC bookstore The Strand you might get help from an extra-special employee as you peruse their famed 18 miles of books:
Meet Gizmo! This book-lovin’ pup is all ears and no nonsense!
Well, maybe a little nonsense…
She helps make book-browsing humans and their pups feel at home in the dog-friendly bookstore and basically has the coolest job on the planet. What’s more, the parade of pups got the folks of The Strand thinkin’ that it was about time they dedicated one of their signature totes to the humans who enjoyed cuddling up with a good book as much as respectably less than cuddling up with their favorite dog. Thus, the Dog’s of NYC tote was born!
In-house designer and illustrator, Topher MacDonald, drew inspiration from NPR’s interactive map of NYC’s most popular dog breeds by neighborhood to design the 39 portraits that grace the front and back of the tote. MacDonald spent months meticulously rendering each breed . From the tall…
To the small…
But, he does stress, “I think it’s important to recognize how important ALL dogs are, purebred or no. So, it’s worth noting our mascot Gizmo is a Shih Tzu/Pomeranian/Maltese mix.”
We couldn’t agree more! And we’re glad to see that as his muse, Miss Gizmo gets prime corner real estate on the tote.
We at the Bark & Co. office went pawsitively nuts over this tote, and can’t think of a better gift for dog-ruving bookworms. Snag the Dogs Of NYC Tote with navy or yellow handles for $14.95.
Did we mention that it can hold approximately two and one-thirds Gizmo’s*???
*Cannot confirm absolutely, but definitely looks like about two and one-thirds. Definitely.*
