2020(2) has effectively destroyed the part of our brains responsible for rational thought, but truly, it’s fine.
Somehow, some way, the universe (our commenters) decided they wanted a plushified version of KC Green’s flaming, be-hatted “This Is Fine” dog. Even more than… a Furby with a butcher knife? An OnlyFans “Teddy Daddy Bear”? John Dillermand and his prehensile Danish pee-pee? So be it.
These designs were rejected by the Dog Powers That Be, but not by our hearts. And our hearts, fortunately for you and your dogs, are good at convincing the toy workshop to please listen to the people, they’re shouting at us. Kidding, we just make unbreakable eye contact and slide them a pack of peanut M&Ms. (Also kidding. They prefer Trident Layers.)
What we call the “This Is Fine” comic is actually named “On Fire,” and originated in 2013 as part of KC Green’s “Gunshow” comics. It also has more panels you might not have seen before:
Weird, right? It’s better, and also worse. Just like each year for the past 3 years.
The truth is, this poker-faced dog’s optimism has tapped directly into our collective feels. Perhaps you want to bring him home and show him there’s more to the world than flames (like your dog’s loving jaw embrace). Or perhaps a good, cathartic shredding is in order to quell the ongoing existential and real-life dread.
Take a #barkboxday picture of your fine dog with this fine dog before he’s gone like the rest of our sanity. Because everything is fine, really. This is fine. (Get it at BarkShop SOLD OUT! You can still get more cool KC Green merch.)
In the words of the comic creator himself, “We all get that feeling that things are burning down around us, but you’ve got to smile sometimes.” And even when the world feels at its darkest, just stop and remember: we still have dogs.
And dog toys. Get it for $15. (But not anymore because it IS sold out. Thank you.)
