As the program’s founder, Sarah Brasky, pointed out, one of the most crucial steps in dogs finding their furever homes is moving them into a temporary foster home. The dogs become more prepared for adoption by being exposed to more socialization and the routine of a household, plus there is the added benefit that a dog being fostered has created more room at the shelter for another homeless dog.
Ariel (above) is described as a free-spirited Shepherd/Pit mix who’s great with kids.
The financial costs of fostering a dog can deter otherwise eager foster parents. Operation Foster Bound is tackling this problem head-on by having Foster Dogs NYC provide transport, food, training assistance, and any other supplies to these foster homes. By making the fostering process more human-friendly, Operation Foster Bound hopes that more people will be interested in helping these lovable, deserving dogs.
Regina (above), a sweet, smart Pit mix, weighs in at only 35 lbs, but that doesn’t mean she loves any less.
Other organizations are also reaching out with support: PetSafe has donated equipment like leashes and collars; DEN Dog Beds has vowed to donate one big dog bed to each of the dog’s in the program; and Adopt-a-Doodle will render a custom illustration of each eligible pup.

If you can’t foster a pup but still want to pitch in, you can do so by donating here.
If Travis (above) finds a home, he’ll smile even bigger than he already is.
