Tucker, a fluffy little Doodle with an intense love for ducks, was on a walk one afternoon when he chased the birds into the middle of a frozen pond. While the ice remained solid for about the first fifteen feet, Tucker fell in when his weight broke the surface and could not climb back out.
His human tried to help the pup with a rope, but did not walk out onto the ice. The owner decided just in time to call the local fire department.
The Unified Fire Authority in Utah rushed to the scene with a water-rescue suit in hand, and one man donned the outfit before laying a ladder on the ice and crawling out. In a video posted to the fire company’s Twitter account, you can watch the moment Tucker was freed from the water.

And the pup made sure to say a proper thank you for the firefighters’ amazing work.

Tucker lasted fifteen minutes in the icy lake, a duration a human may have had a bit more trouble walking away from. He is very lucky to have such dedicated friends, but he’ll probably think twice next time he sees a duck.
