It might seem silly to worry about whether dogs get enough sleep or not. They pretty much sleep all day, but is that normal? According to this infographic made by Daily Dog Tag, the answer is yes…and no.
The more productive the dog is (for example, if the dog has an occupation, like a police dog or therapy dog) the less sleep they need. However, the average unemployed dog needs more sleep, roughly around 12 hours. So how many hours of sleep your dog needs is determined by how active they are.
But it’s important to note that low-productive dogs still need to be kept mentally stimulated. Too much sleep can result in “doggie sleep disorders,” a very serious problem despite how cute it sounds.
Here, the infographic breaks it down a bit more.
